Normandy AD to be Inducted into LU Hall of Fame
Normandy Athletic Director Terrence Hamilton will soon add Hall of Famer to his extensive career reel.
Hamilton, a 1991 graduate of Lincoln University, will be one of six inductees into the 2018 LU Athletic Hall of Fame. He will be honored in a special ceremony at the Scruggs University Center Ballroom on LU’s campus in Jefferson City, Mo., on Friday, October 5. He will also be recognized during LU’s homecoming football game against Quincy College on Saturday, October 6.
Hamilton earned All-MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) second-team honors during the 1987-88 season at LU before being named to the all-conference first team the following season. He was also a National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District V second team selection both years.
Hamilton has the distinction of being one of just nine Blue Tigers ever to tally at least 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. He is currently 13th in program history in points (1,229) and 10th all-time in rebounding (652). Hamilton was named a captain in two of his three seasons at LU and earned four MIAA Player of the Week accolades while averaging 16.6 points for his career, including over 18 points per game his final two years.
Following his career at LU, Hamilton enjoyed a professional career in Australia before returning to his alma mater as an assistant coach for the men’s basketball team from 1991-93. He also served as the head coach of the women’s basketball team from 1993-96.
He later pursued a career as a middle and high school coach at Fanning Middle, Yeatman Middle and Clyde C. Miller High School in the St. Louis Public Schools. He began his career in the Normandy Schools Collaborative at Normandy High School in 2009. He led teams to two district championships, a pair of sectional championships and three trips to the state tournament, including leading NHS to a state runner-up finish in 2013.
