Christian Hospital Foundation to honor Normandy JEGB President for Leadership, Community Service
Normandy Joint Executive Governing Board (JEGB) President Rev. Cedric Portis Sr. is the recipient of the Christian Hospital Foundation’s 2018 Carpe Diem Award. Rev. Portis will be recognized at the 10th Annual Legacy Leaders Dinner Awards at the Norwood Hills Country Club Thursday, October 25.
The Carpe Diem Award recognizes an individual or organization who identifies a need in the community and takes initiative to address that need. The Foundation’s Annual Legacy Leaders Dinner honors local business leaders, health care providers and others who have gone above and beyond in their work to advance the health and wellness of our community.
Rev. Portis currently serves as JEGB president and is a graduate of Normandy High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology in Rolla. Rev. Portis holds a master’s degree in Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary, and a master’s degree in Project Management from Keller Graduate School of Management and bachelor’s degrees in Christian ministry from St. Louis Christian College. He has served as senior pastor of Third Presbyterian Church in St. Louis since 2003. He is also an adjunct professor of Ethics, Critical Thinking and Organizational Leadership for the University of West Los Angeles. In addition to his work with Normandy, Rev. Portis also volunteers with the Hazelwood and Riverview Gardens school districts.
