The celebration included a prayer breakfast on Saturday, January 18, and a march and program on Monday, January 20.
District representatives, including Harlan Hodge, JEGB President; Theresa Pearson, JEGB Director; Cheryl Milton Roberts, JEGB Director; Gerald Nave Jr., Normandy High School Principal; and other administrators and staff, actively supported the prayer breakfast.
The events featured inspiring performances, music, and speeches highlighting Dr. King's enduring vision for unity and equality. During Monday's program, Ameren Missouri demonstrated its commitment to the community by presenting a generous donation to Normandy High School, further supporting its mission and initiatives. | | | Normandy Schools Collaborative: Progress and Success!Did you know that 70% of Normandy Schools Collaborative kindergartners are now reading at or above their grade level? This remarkable achievement reflects our commitment to academic excellence and early childhood literacy.
We're also proud to share that 94% of our teachers are certified, ensuring students receive high-quality instruction every day.
In addition to academic gains, we’ve made significant strides in improving school climate and student behavior. Out-of-school suspensions have decreased by 78%, expulsions have dropped by 76%, and student altercations are down by 75% compared to last school year. These changes reflect our focus on fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
District leaders have identified and cut non-essential expenses, resulting in over $6 million in savings. As a result, our district maintains a robust $27 million in our Fund Reserve, ensuring financial stability for the future. And for the first time since 2014, all members of the Normandy school board are elected by our community members.
Together, these accomplishments highlight the incredible progress in the Normandy Schools Collaborative over the past year. Thank you for your continued support as we work to provide a brighter future for our students and community.
