  • Updates on Chromebook Distribution, Grab & Go Meal Schedule

    PHASE 2 - DISTRIBUTION OF CHROMEBOOKS

    To support virtual/remote learning for our students, families who do not have devices at home will be able to check out district Chromebooks (one per family). There is a $25 deposit required for Chromebooks (covers insurance for the device in the event of loss or damage to device). 

    • Deposits must be made online. Sign up at the Normandy Technology page: https://fs12.formsite.com/6FWYsm/fcuvvgrstz/index.html
    • For the device pickups, parents will remain in the car and the devices will be brought to the car. 
    • Devices must be picked up by enrolling parent/guardian with proper identification. 

    IT preparing chromebooks Once the deposit is made online, Chromebooks can be picked up at Lucas Crossing School Complex, 7837 Natural Bridge Road, on the following dates/times:

    • Wednesday, April 1, 11 am -1 pm 
    • Thursday, April 2, 12 noon - 2 pm 
    • Friday, April 3, 11 am - 1 pm 

    Our current curriculum and lesson plans have a virtual component that will allow students to access materials online. 

    • Teachers will use district-issued email and Google for Classroom accounts to communicate with students.
    • Teachers will reach out to parents (either via email or phone) to assist families with assignments and if using the online option, to help with login. 
    • Teachers will also be available during regular school hours to answer questions or provide assistance if needed. 

    For those families who prefer paper copies of the assignments as an option, please contact your child's teacher. Class assignments will be posted online. 

    MEALS FOR STUDENTS

    Meals Available Monday, Wednesday & Friday: We are changing the schedule for the student Grab & Go meals. Normandy will continue to provide grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches for students. Meals will be dropped off with students/families at bus stops throughout the district (see attached revised schedule) beginning at 10 a.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. The revised bus drop-off schedule will go into effect Wednesday, April 1.

    Meals will also be available at drive-through pickup locations at each school (except CASA) between the hours of 11 a.m. & 12:30 p.m., also on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. 

    PLEASE NOTE: Students can get meals for the days without drop-offs. For example, on Monday, families can get meals for Monday and Tuesday (on Wednesday, pick-up for Wednesday and Thursday, etc).

  • Normandy, Area School Districts Extend Closure to April 22

    In line with the ‘stay-at-home’ directive issued by local and state government officials to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, area superintendents have made the decision to continue the current school closure until Wednesday, April 22. This extended closure includes the Normandy Schools Collaborative. 

    During the extended school closure, the Collaborative will continue to provide meals, virtual learning plans, and other services to students and families. 

    “These are unprecedented times for our community and it requires a higher level of commitment on the part of all of us,” said Dr. Charles J. Pearson, Normandy Superintendent of Schools. “I want to personally thank our staff, teachers and parents for their cooperation and willingness to go the extra mile for our students.”

    Listed below are the services available for students during the extended closure. 

    Meals for Students

    Beginning Monday, March 23, Normandy will provide grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches for students.     Continuing Learning - Distribution of Devices/Lesson Packets

    Please Note: We have distributed the first allotment of chromebooks. We will notify families when the next allotment is ready for distribution.

    • Teachers will use district-issued email and Google for Classroom accounts to communicate with students beginning Wednesday, March 25.
    • Teachers will reach out to parents (either via email or phone) to assist families with assignments and if using the online option, to help with login. 
    • Teachers will also be available during regular school hours to answer questions or provide assistance if needed. 

    For those families who prefer paper copies of the assignments as an option, we will also print out assignment packets by grade level and send it to you via mail or email.   • NSC Coronavirus Update - March 22, 2020

    We wanted to give you an update on the district’s plans for students during this closure resulting from COVID-19 mitigation. Please continue to monitor your email and voicemail for updates from the district. We are working with our staff and external partners to continue student learning and provide needed resources for our students, families, and staff.

    Stay-at-Home Directive from St. Louis County

    The St. Louis County Executive issued a stay-at-home directive which goes into effect Monday, March 23. This directive still allows for school districts to distribute food as this is considered an essential service. As such, we will continue with our plan to distribute meals to students via bus stop drop-offs and at our schools.

    For the meal and device distributions, we will practice social distancing: no more than 10 people in one location, keeping people at least 6-feet apart. 

    Medicine Pick-up

    If there are parents/guardians who need to pick up medicine from their child’s school, principals will be on site Monday, March 23, and Tuesday, March 24 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. medication will only be released to the parent/guardian of record.

    Coronavirus/COVID-19 Hotlines

    Area residents have access to two hotlines related to coronavirus/COVID-19.

    • Anyone who believes they have been exposed to COVID-19 or if they are experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath, and chest pain) should call the St. Louis County Department of Health hotline at 314.615.2660.
    • If you are needing basic information about the coronavirus, contact the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services at 877.435.8411. This hotline is being operated by medical professionals and is available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
