Normandy is offering several free opportunities for students to meet new friends, continue the learning process over the summer, and get a jump start on the next school year through the Summer Journey enrichment program. The Normnady Summer Journey program will begin June 6 and run through July 11. Transportation and meals are provided.
The Normandy Summer Journey program will use the Jump Start curriculum for classes. Jump Start is a nationally recognized program that gives students an opportunity to prepare for the next school year with coursework in reading, English, mathematics and science. The high school curriculum focuses on credit recovery, credit advancement, and ACT preparation.

Elementary & Middle School
The Jump Start Accelerated Learning Summer Institute will focus on our children reaching and exceeding grade level expectations. Our students will have hands-on experiences in reading, mathematics, and STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

ACT Prep Summer Institute
The Jump Start ACT Prep Summer Institute will help students navigate the ACT test with ease, earning impressive scores along the way. This course will help motivate and inspire our students with a personal approach that takes the mystery out of the test. Students will engage in small group instruction, independent learning, online resources and full length, timed practice tests to prepare for the pace and format of the ACT. This cohesive approach ensures that students learn the strategies for tackling each type of exam question. In addition, students will focus on the specific skill areas they need to improve.
The Jump Start ACT Prep Summer Institute will begin June 6, 2017, and end on July 11, 2017. The institute will host two sessions; see below for scheduled times. The Credit Advancement program has been designed for students who are seeking academic credits to graduate. Students must complete 100% of the coursework to receive course credit.
The Credit Advancement program will begin June 6, 2017 and end on July 11, 2017. Please see the course offerings below for your child’s grade level. Transportation and breakfast will be provided.

High School Credit Advancement Courses
PERSONAL FINANCE - (1 SEMESTER – 1/2 CREDIT)
Students will explore and understand the basic economic concepts related to the following seven themes: (1) Goals and Decision Making, (2) Careers and Planning, (3) Budgeting, (4) Banking Services, (5) Saving and Investing, (6) Credit, and (7) Consumer Skills. This course will satisfy the Missouri State graduation requirement of earning 1/2 credit in personal finance.
HEALTH- (1 SEMESTER – 1/2 CREDIT)
This course is designed to give students a basic understanding of health as a way of life that will help to attain individual goals and utilize one's highest potential for the betterment of self, family, and community.
INTRO TO COMPUTER SCIENCE - (1 SEMESTER – 1/2 CREDIT)
Students will learn the fundamentals of computer science theory through video game design and animation. This course will focus on students completing real world projects that teach them the basic building blocks of computer coding. Students will utilize Scratch and other interactive programs that will allow them to put their knowledge to practical use.
